Happy Valentine’s Day!

LOVE is all around us even though many of us overlook it; however, most of us feel as if life has been going in the wrong direction – perhaps it’s the economy and not having enough money for food and shelter or the rapid passage of days without accomplishing our goals.  We do have to budget more than we ever have before so everyone feels the pressure and stress of these times; however, I do believe that we have a far greater treasure that many of us have to hold on to — which, of course, is love.  Perhaps we should focus on this special gift this month as we celebrate Valentine’s Day.

There is the love between romantic partners, spouses, children, brothers and sisters, cousins and aunts and uncles.  Of course, I would be remiss not to mention the unconditional love of grandparents – what a truly remarkable gift to our families.  We have families who love us and good friends who are there for us, if needed.  We have neighbors and co-workers who would jump in to help us in an emergency at the drop of a hat because that’s what people who love us do.

TRUE LOVE has no boundaries and is ever hopeful that things will always work out. It is forgiving someone when you didn’t think you could for an injury or hurt sustained by them.  It may also be trying to see things from another’s point of view even though you may know (or think you know) that you are right — just because having your loved one win a few of the discussions feels like the right thing to do.

LOVE is caring for a loved one who is terminally ill and spending all of your time taking care of them, washing and feeding them and reading to them although you are not sure that they can hear you.  It is watching your loved one suffer in Hospice while you put on a brave front and tell him over and over again how much you love him. It is seeing the person you love die before your eyes while you hug him and kiss him on the forehead and tell him how lucky you feel because he was part of your life for a short while.  It is loving someone so unconditionally that even after death you still attempt to resolve all the unfinished business he left behind which are now your burdens. And even though you would like to drop it and walk away from the added responsibility, you don’t because you feel as if he had entrusted his life to you and now you must resolve the endless paperwork and financial issues for his sake.  It is a strong person who can do all of these things even though she had lost the love of her life to liver cancer — as my sister did this past December. My sister Rose represents courage and unconditional love to all who know her and I just hope more of us can show this type of boundless love in our lives to our loved ones.

Show the ones you love how much you really care during February when we officially celebrate love.  We are never quite sure how much time we have left on this Earth so why not make the most of the time that we are given.

Contact Your Angels

I have decided to start teaching about angels along with everything else I do metaphysically speaking. I have dealt with my personal angel since I was fourteen years old and he started talking to me. Of course, way back when, you just didn’t go around telling people that you have an angel talking to you and even though I was a young teen, I got it. You keep this information to yourself.

In metaphysics it is believed that we are all born with three personal guardian angels and three spirits guides that are here to help each one of us. But the “law of non-interference” states that they cannot interfere with our free will and choices unless we specifically ask for assistance. I tell my students it is like having a butler, maid, cook and chauffeur on staff and they sit at the kitchen table having coffee waiting for you to tell them what to do. They are there, but not doing their jobs!

Angels wait to assist us and I think they must have an extreme amount of patience not to interfere when they know we are making a mistake or not taking an important opportunity for our best interest – but that’s what they do.

So, it is important to deal with them every day. I personally ask to be brought opportunities and people into my life who would be in my best interest, and so far it has worked out well. Yes, I’ve made mistakes along the way because I didn’t think the opportunities were right for me and I’ve been disappointed some time later to see that “they” were right and that my judgment was colored with emotional responses and bias.

The first thought that comes to your mind about anything (after asking assistance from them) is always the right thing to do. You have free will so you can do whatever you feel is appropriate for you; however, give the answer that comes to your mind first a second thought and reflect upon it. What would be the ramifications of taking that path? Would it be in your best interest? Would it be a risk worth taking? Think of these things before making a decision.

You may also ask the name of your angel if you go into meditation — or you can get ready for bed and once your head is on the pillow, close your eyes and ask (outloud or silently) that you would like to know the name(s) of your personal angels. The names will come into your mind. Don’t be discouraged if it takes several tries – sometimes, we just don’t believe the names that come into our minds and we dismiss them. Hear them and know that they are your angels’ names.

Ask for assistance in being safe while driving/traveling to your destination. Ask that the police don’t see your speeding by; ask that your family and you are healthy and safe and that you will always make the best decisions for all involved. Your angels can help you with whatever you can imagine.

You have all the power of the universe on your side, it would be a real shame if you didn’t use it.

Ditching Your Time Share

Even though I thought it was a wonderful thing to purchase a time share on eBay about 5 years ago for the ridiculous price of $300, the truth of the matter is you can’t get rid of it – you practically have to give it away.

We’ve been to seminars upon seminars saying they will buy your time share and it winds up, they will let you pay them $4000-$5,000 for closing costs and they will take it for free.  What a deal.  Then there were the marketers who said they had someone interested, but when you pushed and asked a name, etc., they said they couldn’t give out that information for confidentiality reasons.  Right there, you know they have no one interested.

I even had my money refunded from a group who said they were realtors but upon reading the contract, found out that they were a marketing company.  So I spoke with the Executive Vice President and told him that I had worked for a lawyer for 20 years — and that’s all it took, I got a check within a week.

So, the way to do this is to DEED BACK your property.  You don’t get anything for it, but you don’t have the ridiculous maintenance fees associated with your time share.  As we have learned, if you really like your time share property as a vacation spot, you can rent it from Orbitz, Cheaptickets.com, etc. for a fraction of what the maintenance fee would be!  Odd, huh?  Anyway, call the Litigation Department BEFORE your maintenance is due and the swap usually costs about $85.  Unfortunately, due to family crises the last few months, I did not get to transfer the deed in time and now I have to pay the $1215 maintenance plus the $85 transfer fee.  With this in mind, I might as well use my time share one last time before I deed it back and then I will be rid of it forever.

Redweek.com doesn’t work.  I saw my time share property from $0 – $8500 with no takers.  The horrible truth is that the property is sold at $19,500, so what kind of investment is this?  Not a good one!

No marketer has prospects for you, they just want your money.  Be happy with the time you had to use it but if you’ve had enough of the rising maintenance fees, just deed it back and cut your loses while you can.

The Solar Eclipses: January 15th and July 11, 2010

Solar Eclipses are very important in astrology.  They represent the only time during the year when you can actually make a dramatic impact on your life.

What is a dramatic impact on one’s life, you may ask?

It means that you can change your life and go into any direction you want it to go.  It means that if you don’t like the way your life is going, you can change it in a positive manner and the effect will last until the subsequent eclipse.

In 2010, there are two eclipses.

The first one will be on January 15 at 2:11 AM in 25 Capricorn 01 and will last for 11 minutes and 8 seconds.  It will be seen from Central Africa, India and China.

The second eclipse (which will be a total eclipse) is on July 11 at 3:40 PM in 19 Cancer 24 and can be seen from the South Pacific, Easter Island, Chile and Argentina.  No matter whether you can see an eclipse or not from your home is irrelevant.  The energy of the eclipse affects the whole world and the whole day from midnight to midnight.

So what should you do on an eclipse?

I love explaining to my students and clients what they should do on an eclipse.  It’s very simple and practical at the same time.  Do whatever you want to be doing for the next six months.  So, if you want to start looking for a new job, send out resumes on that day. If you are trying to sell your home, talk to a realtor that day or drop into a realtor’s office OR put your house up for sale on an eclipse for extra energy in selling it quickly. If you like your job, get to work on time, be friendly, have lunch with co-workers, etc.  Don’t go shopping on an eclipse or your intent would be to spend extra money during the next six months.  Do contact people you would like to have in your life more than you do now.  You can email, write or visit with them, it doesn’t matter.  The contact is the important issue.  Go out to a meal with friends or your partner (or children, if you’d like) so that you would have more time and money to do that.  I tell my women students not to pay so that they would not be picking up many of the bills in the future.  If you are ill on this day, unfortunately, you will probably catch every kind of cold to flu or worse during this time period.  So please take care of yourself so you don’t have to worry about your health.

Personally, I read, take the dog for a walk, listen to CDs, watch TV, rest, plan to do a hobby or interest and make sure I either lecture, write or have clients on that day to attract more business.  You can start a new redecorating project or personal hobby.  You can take a new class, start a new foreign language series that you always wanted to learn.  Make a home cooked meal for the family if it is your intent to have the family around the dinner table more (but remember, you will be cooking more too).  You can always order pizza!  Tell someone you like/love them.

What shouldn’t you do on an eclipse?

That’s easy to answer.  Do not do housework!  Do not schedule any medical procedures or a doctor’s appointment.  (You don’t want to be sick for the next six months, do you?).  Do not pay bills or have a fight with anyone.  If you do, make up quickly so this will not be an issue for the future.  Do not stay home from work on this day or you will be down sized, laid off or fired.  (Several students tested me on this and told me in the following semester that they had gone on unemployment!).  If you are home sick from work, put on makeup and get dressed so you will not be lying around watching TV while not being groomed properly. (Men, you don’t have to put on makeup!).  Do not procrastinate or put things off which should be done now.

Don’t do anything you don’t want to be doing over and over again for the next six months.  It’s like a video that will be playing each day over and over again until the next eclipse. Think about what you want to accomplish and make sure you are doing that exact thing with the people you want to be doing it with.

So all in all, a solar eclipse is a wonderful way or reorganizing your life, bringing positive energy in that you need to make your life complete or to get it on another path.

I hope your eclipse is everything you want it to be – if it’s not, plan a lot better for the July 11^th one.

Tis the Season

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!.  I personally want to wish you a year filled with wonderful opportunities, interesting karmic lessons, abundance, good health and lots of laughter!  May 2010 be one of the best years you will ever remember.

What a great time of the year!  We are busily buying and wrapping gifts and going crazy trying to find something special for everyone on our holiday list.  But how are we supposed to know what is appropriate for a niece, nephew, grandchild, child or partner?  There are so many things that I am unfamiliar with that when my 26-year-old daughter asks for a specific thing, I must have a blank look on my face because she replies, “It’s on my Amazon list.”  Phew.  Thank God for Amazon.  Other than supporting local small businesses when I can, I usually buy on Amazon or eBay since getting the most for our dollar is on everyone’s mind these days.

Of course, this season’s focus should not be on buying gifts; it is about Jesus Christ being born and about how his teachings enter into our lives.  I tell my metaphysical students that, “Jesus had a great idea and then man-made religion.”

It is up to the individual to believe in Jesus or not, but his teachings are noteworthy.  His message is about love and compassion.  It’s about giving a helping hand to those in need or just to be there for someone if they need a friendly smile or someone to talk to.  You can also honor Jesus by attending mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day even though as many of you know, December 25^th is not his actual birth date.

When was he born? That’s another mystery and it’s suggested that he was born somewhere between 6 – 4 BC when Herod was King.  It would be so interesting, as an astrologer, to know his true birth date.  I always wondered why no one thought that the actual date of his birth was not considered a noteworthy piece of information that should have been written down somewhere, possibly in the Bible.  Some feel he was born in the autumn and was probably a Libran (compromising, fair, non-judgmental, compassionate, giving, loving and kind), but many belief, as do I, that he was born in the sun sign of Pisces.  Why?  Because Pisces is ruled by water and therefore is very compassionate, mysterious, caring, serious, spiritual and contemplative.  Many of the stories about Jesus are about water — whether he was teaching his disciples how to fish, his walking on water or turning water into wine. Then there’s the martyr aspect of the sign and we all know Jesus was the ultimate martyr who died for mankind’s sins. I guess we were never meant to know the exact truth of his birth so that everyone could add their own take on the story.

Whether you believe that the three Wise Men were astrologers or business men from the East is not important.  The Star of Bethlehem, which scientists determined was a comet, was seen by all who were looking for signs that the King of Kings would be born.  Whether you believe that St. Mary had Jesus in a cave, a manger or in the lower level of an ancestral home where the live stock was kept during the winter (as some scholars believe), we know he was born from the many stories and miracles reported throughout the times and in the Bible stories.

Celebrate the holidays in whichever way is appropriate for your family and you.  Add a moment or two to contemplate, meditate or pray to your saints, God, Goddess, Guardian Angels, Spirit Guides or Universal Spirit. Thank him or her for all of your blessings, especially for having family and friends at your side during these stressful times.  Remember, the holidays are not about the gifts; it’s about the love that family and friends share during this time. It is hard to remember but the smallest thoughtful gift outweighs the lavish useless gift.  Great things come in small packages!  So if you can’t afford something expensive for those you love, give a thoughtful gesture and I’m sure it will be much appreciated.

Again, I wish you a happy holiday season and may the New Year find you getting all the things that are truly meaningful for your family and you.  And most importantly, remember to be careful for what you wish for!

TAURUS – April 19 – May 19

Be careful about spending over your budget for the holidays.  You can get many wonderful holiday gifts on sale so check out newspaper flyers and local store ad campaigns.  Circumstances arise where you may be disagreeing on where to spend the holidays, what to buy a certain person or how to spend your money.  Miscommunication with family is very probable, so with the holiday spirit in mind, try to lighten up and go with the flow so that your holiday will be one to remember with happy times and lots of love from family around you.  Taureans are taking work and pressure too seriously now so prioritize and get things done one at a time and then you can feel that you have accomplished what you needed to do and have a clear mind for the holiday celebrations ahead.

GEMINI – May 20 – June 20

You are being extremely creative and innovative now, so have fun.  You can play with children, create stories, and have a truly great time with whomever you spend time with.  This is a fantastic period to organize your holiday and communicate all of your enthusiasm to your family and friends about seeing them and looking forward to a wonderful new year ahead.  Things seem to be working out well for you now as you are able to get more secure and stable with finances and can now figure out what your next steps are in paying back your debt, including friends, family and credit cards, etc., so that you will start the new year with less of a financial burden than has been with you throughout this year.

CANCER – June 21 – July 21

There are a lot of great changes starting in your life. You begin to see things from a different point of view and are having fun discovering your new interests and feelings.  Romance is highlighted now, so if you are in a loving relationship, things may go to the next level.  If not, you may meet a romantic significant other.  Good friends push you into having more fun and getting out of the house more.  All work and no play makes Jack (or Jacqueline) a very dull boy or girl, so be adventurous and have the time of your life.  Fun, games, romance and trying new things help you enjoy the holidays more than you have in a long time.

LEO – July 22 – August 21

You are still so scattered and running around doing a million things at once.  Leos will probably travel during the holidays to see family and friends that you normally see over the holidays.  There is just no stopping you from doing everything you want to do this holiday season.  You have many plans and want the family (and friends) to enjoy every minute of the good feeling in the air.  Things can get out of hand, so be careful about overdoing it and be especially mindful of those who want to tell you secrets.  The more secrets you hold, the more danger you are in for getting into trouble.  Your career is a very positive influence now and expressing your ideas and suggestions with a superior will aid you in going far.

VIRGO – August 22 – September 21

Even though the holidays will be very positive, you are worried about relationships and are thinking too much about minutia and what can go wrong instead of looking at life from a positive point of view.  Whatever you think, you will attract so enjoy the holidays and look at the bright side of life now that you enjoy with family and friends.  Your career is still a concern but the more negative energy you give it, the more negativity it will produce.  Changes are coming, so just go with the flow and things will work out for the best.  Good luck will come to you through friends so tell them your concerns and fears so you will see that you are worried over nothing.  Unexpected changes in your life will be the best thing that could happen – they will get you on the right path at last.

LIBRA – September 22 – October 22

You seem to be extremely stressed now and aren’t sure why you can’t shake the feeling.  Life just seems to be giving you one obstacle after another, but instead of handling them and moving forward, you dwell on the issues and attract more negative energy.  This also seems to be a time where you should be accepting help and allowing others to do things for you rather than you always doing for others.  This is a very important karmic lesson – learning how to receive.  Otherwise, you will feel as if the weight of the world is still on your shoulders.  Getting away for the holidays may just be the perfect way of relaxing and feeling appreciated and loved.  Hard work and attention to detail take you far.

SCORPIO – October 23 – November 20

The holidays unfold slowly as you find out what you want to get out of this time of the year.  Romance seems interesting but doesn’t seem to hold many surprises for you.  You may feel as if it’s time to let go of someone but before doing so, make sure you are doing it for the right reasons.  If you feel your interests and similarities have changed, discuss things before making definite plans.  Travel seems a difficult decision, so think over the consequences of going on your trip or not.  Who will you disappoint if you don’t go?    Who will you inconvenience if you do?  You have so many good intentions that everything works out just from the momentum you put forth.  Bringing family and friends together for the holidays is a perfect way of securing a fabulous time for all those you truly care about.

SAGITTARIUS – November 21 – December 20

This holiday season brings lots of joy, hectic shopping trips and fun times.  It seems you will be hopping from party to party and may even wish to throw a cocktail or other party at your home.  You seem to go to a lot of parties but rarely have others to your home as a thank you for being invited to theirs.  Now is the time to repay their kindness.  Work even seems to improve as everyone’s spirits are high during this time of the year.  Be mindful of miscommunication which could alter your status at work where everyone may not be in a festive mood and just want the work done in a timely manner.  Think things over carefully and then discuss the best options which suit the situation and then let things take their own course.

CAPRICORN – December 21 – January 18

Friends help you get through this holiday season even if you don’t feel like joining in with the festivities.  You are exhausted, stressed and overwhelmed with all that you have to do and don’t feel like celebrating at the beginning of the month.  As the holidays approach, you will fall right into the swing of things.  You organize shopping trips and handle things for so many people that you feel right at home taking charge once again.   Many changes start materializing and you are happy that these changes have finally happened.  Feeling more in control, you get a lot done and with your self-confidence and self-esteem being fueled by everyone who loves you, you can do no wrong this holiday season.  Have a wonderful time with family and friends who love you and want you to enjoy this time of the year with them.

AQUARIUS – January 19 – February 17

Life seems like an emotional roller coaster.  You think you have things figured out and then you are handed something out of left field.  This may be a very emotional time but may also be a time when things are made clear to you through others or information you have recently acquired. Aquarians are trying to manage their lives the best they can now, especially if they have to help someone close to them who may be ill.  You are investing a lot of time and energy in helping others and would be wise to rest and take care of yourself as well.  You may need a doctor or dental checkup and should be ready for the unexpected.  So many things go on behind the scenes that you could not possibly be ready for everything, so go with the flow.  Even though you may not feel as if there is good luck protecting you, be assured that there is.

PISCES – February 18 – March 19

There is so much you want to do and just don’t have the time to do it.  You are trying to change in so many ways.  You may want to go for a fun makeover, go on a diet or become more fashion conscious.  You may also wish to be stronger, better, smarter, happier, more in love, etc. and you are just not sure why you feel as if you should change, but you know this would be a positive change for your future. Whatever it is you do will be fun and you will feel as if you have reached a new level of accomplishment.  There may also be a change in your employment status which would then push you into new and better opportunities if you allow them to be attracted to you.  Try to keep your mind from working on overtime and worrying about everything.  You just don’t seem to be able to grasp the changes that are happening around you, so stop and figure out in which directions you need to go in order to be happy and healthy.  The holidays give you a much-needed break from your ever constant view of the world and your life which is always askew.

Charlatans In Our Field

I rarely take gigs in NYC, however, if they are early enough in the afternoon or evening, I can take a bus to Port Authority and a cab to the destination and it has seemed to work out.  This is what I had done just a few weeks ago when I did tarot reading for The New School in NYC.

I always arrive approximately 2 hours ahead of time in case of traffic or some mishap, but this time the bus driver must have tried out for the role on the movie SPEED since we were almost falling out of our seats and purses and brief cases were flying all over the place.  So in essence, I was so early, I called my fiance to chat and ate a bagel at Port Authority and then looked around for awhile before getting into a cab.

Upon getting there, I was told that this particular party was a block party about two blocks away.  That would be all right normally but I have a fractured bone in my right foot so I wasn’t that happy with walking the distance, but managed nicely.

I waited and waited for the person organizing the gig and 50 minutes later, the New School’s representative arrived.  She found me a table and had to find a few chairs, but then the astrologer came and she asked if we could share.  I don’t like sharing tables, but I agreed.  I didn’t know her but it only took me a few minutes to realize what kind of reader she was.

I asked if she had a computer for charts, she said no.  I asked if she brought an ephemeris, she replied no again.  She said she had a good grasp on sun signs and that she could bluff her way through it and brought tarot cards in case I needed help!  Why, thank you.  I told her why didn’t she just use the July 21st eclipse and give the effects of that eclipse to each sign and she said she didn’t know how to do that — so here we are, on the same table with someone (myself) who has taught metaphysics and parapsychology for over 38 years and someone who didn’t know as much as my students who had taken a 6 minute lesson with me.  I was furious.

The readings were loud (and I constantly tried to quiet her down to no avail) and awful.   She had astrology cards and was asking her guests to shuffle the cards and then she READ right off of the cards.  She asked if I knew of these cards and I said that my friends designed them.  Yes, I think I knew them, but they are mostly for individual guidance, not for a big event where you are getting paid big bucks for your expertise.

She left to get water (I brought mine as any event reader would), she had to get a cookie, then she had to make an important phone call.  My opinion of this reader that she didn’t know what the hell she was doing and was doing everything in her power to waste time.  Why would I say that?  Well, people sign up for readings, but sometimes they leave to see what else is going on and come back.  Then you just have them cross off their name no matter where it is on the list.  She kept calling out names in order and wasting 5 – 10 minutes waiting to see if that person was in the area.  I told her several times how to do it, but now my line was growing to over 50 people standing in line and she had 7.  I asked people to go over to her and have an astrology reading, but no one moved from my line.

This reader told me her life story (not a good time to tell me when I am working, nor did I care) and I could tell she has many issues – doing astrology is just one of them.  I complained to the event planner’s rep and she understood, but said it was just for fun anyway.  Well, I know that many people take readings for granted so if you give them bullshit information, what do they have to make positive decisions with?  I complained to the event planner when I called in after the gig, but haven’t heard from them.  Maybe I was being too sensitive; however, I heard her say to these talented writers, musicians and dancers that within 5 years they would all be famous.  I hope it is true; however, what are the odds that a 20 year old will be famous at 25 – and almost all of them at that?

I read the card she gave me when she said she would call me (I can’t wait!) and found out the reason that she was such a bullshitter.  She does music, singing, dancing, DJ, emcee, karaoke, tarot, psychic, fortunes, magic, games, stories, character telegrams, balloons, face painting, arts and crafts, puppet shows and get this – she’s also a clown.  Somehow being a clown and doing tarot readings just doesn’t work for me, but that’s the difference between someone who does this for a living and loves helping people and others who are charlatans and just want to make money, give bad advice and move on to their next victim.  Clown and tarot readings!  That’s a new one for me, but with that said, I guess I don’t have to say anything else.  LOL

Living in Fantasy Land

The issue with doing my spiritual work is that you try very hard to help those in need.  The people who won’t face reality, who live in a world of their own and who get so angry when you try to bring them back to reality, that it is scary.  Some of them need anger management classes and others just need reliable therapy.

This happened to me so I thought I’d share my experience.  I had a lovely tarot student who is my daughter’s age of 26.  She was very pretty, had a great personality (although very shy, no confidence nor self esteem) and was extremely overweight for her age.  She is in love with, let’s call him Micheal.  Michael sounds like a good guy although a Virgo (pardon me, everyone, but I do have some issues with Virgos!  LOL) and she’s a Libran.  Librans are the suckers of the zodiac.  They hate confrontation, but when you put their backs up against the wall, they are the sign of open warfare — thus, I did get her wrath when I was trying to let her see reality in this relationship.

Sometimes, a reader gets close to a client, like I did with this one because she was so helpless and clueless about life.  My daughter is extremely the opposite, so I thought that maybe I could help her come back to live in the third dimensional world that we were all born into; however, it back fired on me.

Here, let’s call her Jane, loves this man Michael.  They’ve been going out for two years and he hasn’t proposed, hasn’t suggested moving in together or any other type of commitment.  She had been a regular tarot client and then a tarot student.  She was not that adept to tarot, but she was coming along slowly but surely — her insecurity and lack of belief in herself made her doubt her readings.  Jane had two more lessons to go to be certified as a beginner in the Totally Tarot Method.

Jane went on a cruise with Michael and she said they had a great time.  I was so happy for her.  She had hoped that he was going to propose on the cruise, but he did not.  In fact, he always uses work as an excuse and is not around as much as a boyfriend, especially one in a committed relationship, should be.  He also was looking for a two family house (coincidentally, he cannot find one that satisfies him….hmmm…) for them to live in someday with his mother living up or downstairs.   Sounds like a great future already, doesn’t it?

So, I emailed her and asked how the cruise was and if she was engaged.  I knew she wasn’t or she would have emailed me, but there was always hope.  (PS:  I did a tarot card spread and know he will not marry her, but that’s another story).  She had also told me that she would like his children whether or not they were married and I tried to tell her that even though she had children with this man, it did not mean that they would be together forever.  I wanted her to think logically, something this woman seems to have a problem with.

Then Jane told me she was having nightmares because of the tarot and I suggested that if she were (which is most unlikely) that she should look at the cards or symbols coming out in her dreams as they might be a message for her to use or act upon.  I told her that I thought it was all subconscious stuff that was finally surfacing about the lack of commitment in her relationship and the chaos it caused, but my words were not heard.  She heard what she wanted to hear…fantasy, illusion and delusion.  Anyway, I also informed her that I would be moving in with my boyfriend in October after knowing each other for 8 months and she went ballistic on me.  Could it be that she realized that being with this loser for 2 years without a commitment was a reality gone wrong?  Perhaps.

She told me to mind my own business and to never contact her again.  She told me that I was manipulative and that Michael and she were happy and fine and he was committed to her.  I wrote her back that I just wanted her to live in reality and that I wished her well for her future.

Reactions like these are common in people who need lots of psychological help in dealing with reality.  I thought I was kind enough throughout our many weeks of individual classes together to give her clues about her ill fated relationship and to make her understand that she should not wait forever for this man.  I know, she will wait 50 years for him even though he brings nothing to her life.

She is in therapy and I hope it continues.  I feel sorry to say that I felt like I lost a daughter, but in reality, I have only one daughter and I love her very much.  I try very hard not to get involved in my clients or students’ lives, but sometimes you just feel that you are needed and you do what you can to help.  Sometimes, like this particular instance, it backfires.

Unfortunately for both of us – we have gone our separate ways and I sometimes wonder if I should have just left her living in a reality where everything is sunshine and roses and negativity doesn’t exist.  For some people, this is where they spend a lot of their time rather than dealing with life as it happens and coping with decisions and consequences about their own futures.

To Jane, I say, I wish you the best and hope that you do marry Michael one day.  I hope it is also in a time frame when you can have the children you desire so much.
