November Horoscopes

Being Truly Thankful

It’s that time of the year again when most of us who are lucky enough to have family and friends around us can celebrate around a table filled with turkey with cranberry sauce (or Tofurkey for you vegetarians out there!), appetizers, tons of vegetables, mashed potatoes, desserts and of course, my favorite, Pumpkin Pie with gobs of whipped cream.  It really isn’t about the food that is the most important part of Thanksgiving, but it gives us the wherewithal to be with family and friends that we don’t get to see throughout the year with our busy lives.

It’s very hard to have time to sit down and have a cup of coffee or tea with a good friend to chat about a recent vacation or something that is troubling you. We use those darn cell phones, emails and Facebook to communicate with each other.  Most of you know my stance on cell phones; however, I too am guilty of using emails to contact friends instead of calling them.  When I do call, no one is home or able to talk, so I leave a voice mail and we play telephone tag for a week or so before connecting.  Besides, when I do get them, they are interrupted by constant call waiting beeps and answer each one so most of the time, I never get to finish a complete thought. I usually talk to one good friend once a week because we always coordinate our schedules for the free OptimumRewards movie night, but that’s about it. Thus, I send a message through cyberspace to many friends at once so I do not have to repeat the same information over and over again.  Most of my contact with my friends (and family outside of my immediate family) is via email.  My one niece got a job in Boston; my other niece is going to a local community college and is busy with her studies and friends and my third niece lives with her husband in PA, so if I didn’t email them, I would never find out what is going on in their lives.  My daughter is interviewing for her Ph.D., teaching at several colleges, volunteering at a bird banding station and takes care of her husband and home.  I contact her and get answers via email.  I’m sure many of you miss the same lack of personal communication with a loved one as I do, so perhaps we should all try to reconnect in person during the holidays.

Thanksgiving is a time to catch up with those you love in person.  The sharing of food, stories and laughter is symbolic of getting the family together for those moments that will be looked upon as “treasured moments” in the future.

So, what are you thankful for this holiday season?  Are you healthy?  Do you have your family and friends around you?  Are you employed?  Do you have food on the table? Are you able to get out of bed each morning without assistance?  Are you happy that you started your own home based business and you love your new boss? There is so much we can be grateful for if we just look around us.  We should realize that there are others living with terminal illnesses or those who cannot walk, talk, see, or hear.  How could our petty complaints compare to their real life hardships?

Enjoy your family and friends at Thanksgiving, during the holiday season and throughout the New Year.  In the scheme of things, they are the only things that matter in life.  Your health, relationships, jobs, good fortune and living conditions will come and go, but with good friends and family behind you, how can you not be blessed?

ARIES – March 20 – April 18

You seem overly sensitive so be sure if a comment was meant in jest or in truth before getting upset over it.  You tend to be stressed with holiday planning that you may forget some very important things along the way.  Spending time with family doing a mutual chore or just chatting would be a good way to connect.  Give everyone something to do so you also have time to enjoy the festivities.  Allow yourself time to relax and don’t be too quick to argue about non-important matters.  Take care of yourself and you will have much more energy throughout the upcoming holidays.

TAURUS – April 19 – May 19

Home life is busy and you are having a wonderful time preparing for the holidays, even though it seems to be a very stressful time.  You find yourself second guessing yourself about what to do for the holidays and if you should just keep things the way they have always been.  You may wish to travel, but rationalize that this is family time and the family should be together.  You are learning a lot more than usual and want to know many things; however, your time constraints are working against you.  It seems you want to do too much in the time allotted.

GEMINI – May 20 – June 20

Children and your romantic life are especially positive now so live in the moment and try to enjoy both areas of life without adding your own personal issues to the mix.  Unexpected moments come and go as you try to balance new opportunities or a new relationship within your comfy life.  Finances seem up in the air again and you truly seem to be trying to organize and budget. Wonderful opportunities come your way, so take advantage of anything that seems like a gift from Above.  Activity levels are very high so be sure to take time out of your busy schedule for relaxation and meditation.

CANCER – June 21 – July 21

If you are not feeling up to par, a doctor’s visit may be in order to diagnose anything that may later be an issue.  Unexpected expenditures are necessary so just take care of your obligations.  Travel seems likely as you want to visit family who do no live nearby and spend some quality time with them.  There may also be a chance that relatives may want to stay at your home as well.  Either works out well.  There seems to be some very important karmic lessons being taught to you through personal and business partnerships.  Try to understand and learn from these lessons.

LEO – July 22 – August 21

Relationships are extremely powerful now.  Be careful about promising things in the spur of the moment only to regret that decision later on. Even though holiday plans seem on schedule, there is the chance for miscommunication and situations being blown out of proportion.  Do not overreact and think intelligently about your options.  Do not let your emotions rule you. Stay calm and let things naturally unfold.  Your personality is extremely dominant now so be sure that you are not handling everything from your need to control, but rather from a level of compassionate and empathy for those you love.

VIRGO – August 22 – September 21

Thinking about the holidays makes you crazy because of all the added fuss, but in the long run, you will have a very happy holiday and all your efforts for all festivities will be greatly appreciated.  Financial obligations seem to be getting under control even though you are on a very strict budget and feel as if you are unable to buy all of the things you need.  There is also a great lesson to learn: balance. No one is perfect, so don’t beat yourself up over things that are impossible to achieve.

LIBRA – September 22 – October 22

Your sociable personality will keep you on everyone’s invitation list; you may want to return the favor and invite family and friends to your home.  Trying to keep yourself from spending over your budget during the holidays is going to be an important test.  Be smart about spending on things you truly need by waiting for a sale so you can truly get your money’s worth.  You may also wish to ask for things you want on your holiday list so you don’t have to purchase them.  Being overly disorganized can add to your anxieties, so get things in order quickly.

SCORPIO – October 23 – November 20

There are many positive opportunities for you to complete projects that have been left on the back burner.  This is a wonderful time for writing letters or phoning friends during this festive season.  You are also thinking about retirement and re-examining your life.  Romantic partnerships keep you truly connected to your heart which makes your life complete.  You realize that nothing can be wrong if you have the love of your family around you and this gets you through many tough spots.

SAGITTARIUS – November 21 – December 20

Having fun, clowning around, getting back in touch with friends who have slipped through the cracks and enjoying the holidays seem important. Be sure to watch your wallet since you may find that you have less in the bank than you thought because you did not account for the additional spending for entertaining.  You could always have a cocktail party or dessert and coffee instead of a full planned menu.  All in all, this is a great month to bond with your children and be there for someone you haven’t seen in a long time.

CAPRICORN – December 21 – January 18

You truly are becoming a very spiritual person, especially during this uplifting holiday season. You are rethinking your life and wondering what you can do to improve yourself, your career and your relationships.  You are especially working on your spiritual relationship with Spirit, God, Goddess, Angels, Spirit Guides, etc.  Being interested in other philosophies or cultures will help you understand many of the hardships you have been going through and get you through the month.  Everything is a test and even though you may not believe it, you are handling them well.

AQUARIUS – January 19 – February 17

You really have to get out of the house more.  You seem extremely creative now and you may want to do something special for family and friends.  This is a very lucky time of the year so whatever you feel like accomplishing will be done with panache.  Situations may seem strange and bizarre, but perhaps this was meant to give you a different perspective on your life as well as others.  Be sure not to waste time on unimportant things since you will be busy with celebrating the holidays.

PISCES – February 18 – March 19

Watch out for spontaneous spending and gift giving.  Everyone is trying to limit spending this year so you are not alone.  Getting ready for the holiday season is really a good thing, but not if you spend all of your money before getting all the required gifts.  You are too impulsive so budget or allot a certain amount of money for each person on your gift giving list.  However, it looks as if you may want to go on a vacation or at least visit family. No one has ever said that you were easy to understand.  Higher education and philosophies may also be of interest.
